Material & Care
What is Minerva Box leather and what makes it special?
Minerva Box is a premium vegetable-tanned leather. Unlike industrialized embossed leather, its texture is a natural grain created by tumbling the hides in wooden drums, a process that preserves the leather’s most raw and honest tactile sensation.
Why does the texture of my product look different from the photos?
That is the inherent charm of Minerva Box. Since the grain is naturally formed, the size and distribution of the texture vary across different parts of the hide, making every Assomma piece a unique, one of a kind creation.
How will this leather change visually over time?
Over time, Minerva Box develops a stunning Patina effect. Due to its exceptionally high oil content, the leather will gradually darken and develop a silky, semi-matte luster, recording the traces of your time spent with the object.
Do I need to apply leather conditioner frequently?
Not necessarily. Minerva Box is deeply infused with ample natural oils during the tanning process. The best maintenance is frequent use, The natural oils from your hands are its most perfect nourishment.
What should I do if the leather gets wet or develops slight scratches?
Vegetable-tanned leather is sensitive to water; if it gets wet, wipe it immediately with a dry cloth and let it air dry naturally. For slight scratches, simply rubbing the area with your fingertip will often cause the rich oils within the leather to shift and gradually mask the mark.
Why does Assomma insist on using uncoated, natural milled leather?
We pursue material honesty. Uncoated leather allows the hide to breathe; while it retains natural growth marks, the tactile warmth and the vitality that evolves over time cannot be simulated by any chemical coating.
